Fourth Saturday gaming is alive and well this month (and I'll even be there!)

As always, we'll start at 1pm and go until the turkeys come home.

I got a copy of The Gates of Loyang that I'm hoping to get to the table... new acquisitions also include the expansion to St Petersburg, Dominion Seaside and Fury of Dracula.

Who is planning on coming by?

I can't be there (obviously) but having played a 3-hour 4p learning game of Loyang last Saturday I strongly recommend that new players play Loyang 2p, or brace yourself for a long game.

I don't think there's a problem with the 4p game and I'd like to play it again 4p with a more experienced group, but the downtime drove me nuts.

I'm planning on attending.
Happy thanksgiving to those of you who see this in the mean time.

Jerry, I seem to remember reading that in the four player game, two players should be taking their actions simultaneously. Were you using that rule, or was it not practical in a learning game?

We were using the simultaneous-turns rule. However, the card drafting took longer, and there is a decision point at every turn where the first player chooses with whom to interact. Since no one knew the cards very well there were long pauses while that player would peer at the other three tableaus to see what interactive cards they held, or what items they could grab with their own interactive cards.
We did have one slow player, and that would have been a problem even in the 2-player game assuming that player had been involved.
