2nd Saturday Gaming (11/13) Kent, you are my new best friend! I'll be there tomorrow and I'd love to try some of those games. Tom is right, I can bring London (although 2 copies might not be a bad idea). Troyes, Furstenfeld, Navegador, Antics, Merkator, and 20th Century all sound great. I've played the original version of Kaigan and could probably teach that. I was going to try to get there by 1 PM to make it easier to park, but now I have even more incentive. See y'all there!

Fourth Saturday gaming, 11/27 We're the ones who are thankful, John, that you're opening up your house to us gamers this holiday weekend! I plan on being there at 1 PM and I'd love to play any of the new Essen titles! I will also bring London and will gladly teach and play that with all who are interested.

Gaming Dec 11 and 31, but not 25. I'll be there on the 11th. I'll try to get there by 1 PM.

Happy Holidays! I just want to wish all my new friends at the Arlington Board Gamers a very happy and safe holiday season. Discovering this great games group was my own early Christmas present!

New Year's Eve Gaming! I'll be there early and should be able to stay until 7-8 PM. Looking forward to it!

New Year's Eve Gaming! Oops, I won't be able to make it after all. Everyone have a great time and I'll see you next year!

Gaming on Saturday the 8th? Just thought I'd ask about this, since it is the second Saturday of January. OTOH, there was a shin-dig last week (which I'm sorry I missed), albeit on a Friday. So I thought I'd ask first rather than just crashing John's place and interrupting some seance or something.

New Gaming Website This may be old news to some of you, but for the rest, I just wanted to let you know that ABG'ers Tom Rosen and I will be contributors to a new gaming website scheduled to debut next Monday (1/24). It's called The Opinionated Gamer (http://opinionatedgamers.com/) and it's basically intended to take the place of the articles and reviews that used to appear on Boardgame News before it folded. When it became apparent that BGN would be restricted to just news when it moved to the Geek, Dale Yu started asking around to see if people had any interest in contributing to a site that WOULD provide opinion pieces, as BGN had done. He got a lot of positive responses; in fact, here is the current list of contributors:

Greg Aleknevicus
Jeff Allers
Ted Alspach
Frank Branham
Pat Brennan
Matt Carlson
Ted Cheatham
Jonathan Franklin
Doug Garrett
Kris Hall
Lucas Hedgren
Matt Horn
Wei-Hwa Huang
Joe Huber
Mark Jackson
Stephanie Kelleher
Patrick Korner
Larry Levy
Andrea Ligabue
Fraser McHarg
James Miller
John Palagyi
Mary Prasad
Valerie Putman
Melissa Rogerson
Tom Rosen
Greg Schloesser
Mike Siggins
Rick Thornquist
Brian Yu
Dale Yu

Dale will serve as editor, although that mostly means he gets stuck with the grunt work of site maintenance, while the rest of us just get to write.

One of Dale's suggestions that was very well received is doing collaborative reviews. The idea is, someone writes the primary review in some detail, then other folks follow that with a paragraph or two and a rating. This way, you get different views of the same game from different perspectives. I think this will be a unique feature that I hope a lot of readers will enjoy.

The plan is to have one new article a day for every weekday. With over 30 contributors, hopefully we'll be able to maintain this schedule without suffering from the kind of burnout that sank Gone Gaming and other similar websites. At any rate, it should be fun and I hope a bunch of you stop by to see what we're writing about (and to make a comment if the mood strikes you). See you there next Monday.

Larry

Jan 22nd, the first fourth Saturday of the year! I should be there and will bring London. I'd like to try out 20th Century, Merkator, Key Market, or Furstenfeld (Advanced Game). Wouldn't mind playing Troyes again and Navegador is always fun.

Jan 22nd, the first fourth Saturday of the year! I read the Key Market rules (NOT well written!) this afternoon and would be willing to teach the game.

2nd Saturday of February. I'll be there and will bring London as usual. I've already asked Kent to bring Furstenfeld and would like to get in an Advanced game of it. I'd also like to try Merkator at long last.

BTW, does anyone own Vinhos? That's another game I'd like to check out.

2nd Saturday of February. Laura asked me to mention that she'll be coming tomorrow as well. For some reason, she can't post onto the site. Of course, her language was a little more colorful when she told me that!

4th Saturday (Feb 26) I'll be there with new copies of Black Friday and Famiglia. I'd love to get in a second play of Vinhos while I still have a vague idea of the rules. Plus, I'd really like to try out Merkator.

Since Mike's going to be there, maybe I'll lug along Automobile as well.

4th Saturday gaming (March 26th) I'll be there and will bring London, Black Friday, and Famiglia, as usual. I'd like to finally try out Merkator, but naturally I'm interested in whatever new games Kent is bringing. Steam over Holland is a possibility, but I'm actually more intrigued by Poseidon.

2nd Saturday gaming in April I'll be there and I'd love to play Merchant of Venus.

Just kidding! Actually, I'll be bringing Glen More, because Kent said he hadn't played it yet. We're also looking to try to get in Steam over Holland (18xx lite) and maybe Vinhos or Key Market. I'd also love to learn Merkator if anyone can teach it.

May 28th gaming - Are you planning on being there? No con for me, so I'm planning on coming to your place if the game is on. Hope it will be.

Fourth Saturday Gaming, May 28th I'm always up for TtA. And I'll bring Automobile, just for Mike.

Regular Gaming on June 11? Just wondering if we were getting together at John's for the second Saturday of June?
6/10/2011 4:39:33 PM
2nd Saturday gaming - June 11th I'll be there. Don't have anything in particular I'm looking to play--I guess I'll just see what new stuff Kent has in his little bag. Up for playing some old favorites as well.

4th Saturday gaming - 1pm I'll be there as usual. I'm always up for Airlines Europe, plus I'm looking forward to our latest hotness, Lancaster.
