Just noticed that autocorrect turned “gun shy” into “gunshot”. I don’t think I’ve ever been gunshot and you’d think I would remember something like that.

I would have joined but when I looked at the website early this morning there were no new posts so I assumed everything was cancelled ... if you and Chris want to give this another try next Saturday at 1pm, I'm willing to give it a try.

When this is all over... i’ve been waiting for years for someone to express an interest in playing Princes of the Renaissance- loved the game when it first came out. So we’ll play.

You ask an interesting question - here is my assessment:
Can it be outdoors... probably not in the summer
Can we maintain social distancing ... I think that would be very tough
Can we wear masks ... for 3+ hours?. no snacks?
And many of us are in daily contact with people in vulnerable populations
I might loosen up after the trip to Boston, but for now this is beyond my risk threshold.

Happy Anniversary
|
Just noticed that today is the 11th Anniversary of the ABG Forum. That’s more than 250 game days! Special kudos to John, our host extraordinaire.
On the topic of commemorations tomorrow is the 68th Anniversary of the day I was born. Can’t think of a better way to celebrate than a game day Saturday (virtually of course). Who would like to join me?

4th Saturday -Political games?
|
I note that tomorrow is the 4th Saturday in October and also the last game day before this year's election. I typically look at my shelf of political games this time of year and grow nostalgic for an earlier time. I have a couple of copies of 3M Bookshelf Mr. President. A little known game out of the U. of Michigan from 1967 - Consensus and the even more obscure Parker Bros. game Politics (1936) which inspired it. I also think back to my earliest days at John's when Die Macher was revered/chastised as the most difficult game imaginable... back before 3 hour eurogames became commonplace. Unfortunately, I think that very few political games have been digitized. Yucata offers Campaign Manager 2008 and Founding Fathers. I'd been interested in playing either of those tomorrow...as well as something non-political for a change of pace.

Turkey Thursday, Black Friday GAMING SATURDAY, Cyber Monday, Giving Tuesday...
Lots of important days this week, but one really stands out!
I suspect that many of us aren’t able to spend this weekend with our relatives...if you are in this category come join in fourth Saturday virtual gaming at 1pm.

Hanukkah gaming?

Saturday is the second day/third night of Hanukkah and even more importantly, it's the second Saturday in December. So for those of us who feel that dreidl (a spinning top game) lacks a bit of strategic play... anyone interested in something a little more robust on line?
